1940
We passed through Peace River Block in British Columbia, which contains about three million acres of fine land.
1954
MacDonnell, Dominion Land Surveyor, had recently finished surveying a line around three and a half million acres straddling Peace River, lying between the Alberta-British Columbia boundary and the Rockies, a grant of land ceded to the Dominion Government by the Province of British Columbia in a railway deal made years before. It was then designated The Peace River Block, and although it long since passed back to British Columbia so its boundaries have become meaningless, it is still referred to in the press, hence by many people, as The Peace River Block.
